Application Information
About Roosevelt
The Roosevelt STEM School is a K-8 building that provides students with the accessibility to activities and course materials focused on application of learning objectives. The curriculum taught is taught through the Scientific Literacy model of problem-solving, discovery, exploratory learning, and require students to actively engage in a situation in order to find its solution. Students will have opportunities to collaborate with peers and develop critical thinking skills that will enhance the professionalism of the work. Students will engage in a Technological Literacy model that will increase the digital leadership as well as incorporating Informational Literacy. These literacy components will help our students to achieve success in college and later down the road when they join the workforce.
This program is offered to all Pennsauken School District students including students with disabilities. The program is not offered for Gifted and Talented students; those students will stay with their cohorts at their current buildings. Any PreK aged student in the district can apply for kindergarten placement. Admission will be based on teacher recommendation, test scores, individual learning style and needs, school attendance, discipline referrals along with each candidate's interest in STEM based instruction. All students with a completed application will be considered for the program and will then take a mathematics placement test. Our admission team made up of various stakeholders will deliberate and make the final decision on acceptance or denial of acceptance.
Application Process
Current Pennsauken Residents (Enrolled in District)
Applications will be posted on the district website in April. Families need to fill one application per student that they would like to be considered for Roosevelt. After the application deadline, parents will receive a letter from Roosevelt School giving the families a date and time for their child to take a mathematics assessment. Once all assessments have been graded and scores reviewed, the school will send out acceptance or denial letters to the families. The admissions team will look at the application, the assessment score, report card grades, attendance and discipline for each applicant.
Current Pennsauken Residents (Not Currently Enrolled)
Please do not put in for a transfer to the district. Families need to fill out an application and follow the same process as above.
Non Pennsauken Residents
We do not accept and can not guarantee placement in Roosevelt. Students will be placed at their home school if they are not accepted at Roosevelt.
